Born on 21st February 1994, Shon Seung-wan, better known as Wendy is a very popular South Korean singer. She is a part and main vocalist of the South-Korean girl group Red Velvet. Wendy debuted on August 1, 2014, along with her group members Irene, Seulgi, Wendy, and Joy with their debut song Happiness.
Wendy was only six years old when she aspired to become a singer. Throughout her life, she trained herself very well to polish her goal. She also learned to play some musical instruments like- saxophone, piano, flute, and guitar.

Weight Loss Journey
Along with her musical career, Member of Red Velvet, Wendy also makes headlines for her weight loss and body transformation.
Before her debut, Wendy was already popular, not for her singing but for her chubby body. In a conversation with tvN’s Raid the Convenience Store, Wendy revealed that she used to be fat before starting her career.
Just because of her body physique, She got rejected by Cube Entertainment because her body appearance did not match their standards.
This was the first rejection of her life but the greatest source of motivation. This incident motivated her enough to work on her body appearance so she can make her dream come true.
Wendy worked a lot and finally, she got selected in SM Entertainment as a trainee. To make her debut with Red Velvet in 2014, Wendy had to lose some more weight, and yes! She made it.
However, her weight loss was not stable. Her weight was fluctuating again and again. She was gaining and frequently losing her weight.
Weight Gain
Wendy’s weight loss was never stable. In 2016, when Red Velvet had its stage comeback, her weight gain was clearly noticeable.
Her weight gain made people speculate that Wendy can’t take care of her body physique, unlike the other members of Red Velvet who are very nicely taking care of their body physique appearance.
After this incident, Red Velvet’s Wendy lost 15kg of her weight in just 4 months and proved to everyone that she can also take care of her weight.
Diet Plan for Weight Loss

In an interview, Red Velvet’s member Wendy had shared her weight loss diet and menu. She would like to have an Apple with some lettuce juice for breakfast.
Wendy used to drink only pumpkin juice in her lunch. She eats only half a cup of rice in the morning and has also tried lemon detox.
Red Velvet’s Wendy always tries to ignore her dinner. According to some reports, her diet menu was only 100 kcal, even though an adult woman needs at least 200 kcal in her diet menu.
Wendy is also very popular as a food lover, especially when it comes to tteokbokki. But still, she eats a little bit of her favorite tteokbokki and successfully managed to maintain her weight.
Exercise Routine
Along with her diet, Wendy also shared the Exercise routine that helped her in her weight loss journey.
Around 10 PM in the night, Wendy used to jump over rope 10,000 times to digest what she had eaten all over the day. Exercise of 2 hours that follows dance practice is a part of her night exercise routine. She also recommends aerobic as another exercise routine to everyone.
She followed her routine very strictly and successfully transformed her body into a very good shape as well as Wendy lost 15 kg of extra weight in just 4 months.
Surgery
Most weight loss aspirants consider Gastric Bypass weight loss surgery as the easiest method for weight loss. Rumors were saying that Red Velvet’s member Wendy has also undergone Gastric Bypass Weight Loss Surgery. But, Wendy herself never admitted if she had any weight loss surgery.
Wendy opted only for natural ways: Diet and Exercise for losing weight and transforming her body physique.
Before and After
Before making her debut with the Red Velvet group, Wendy was kind of a chubbier woman.
Despite having very good vocal skills to let her train and debut, Cube Entertainment denied her just because her physical appearance was not matching their standards. She continued her auditions and decided to lose her weight too.
In 2012, she got recruited to SM Entertainment as a trainee, where she took training for 2 years as well as lost her excess weight before making her debut in Red Velvet Group.
